About
I'm an old lady living in Central Texas who has been rewilding my yard for almost 10 years. Lately, I've found some people enjoy hearing about what I've observed and learned over the years. So this website will help me share some of those anecdotes with my friends and anyone else who's interested.
Sometimes my yard is gorgeous, with a virtual field of sunflowers or bluebonnets. But a beautiful yard is not my goal, although it is nice when it happens. I try to manage for a balanced ecosystem for all the plants and animals that abound here. So if the yard looks scruffy at times, that’s fine with me!
My yard is in Central Texas, black clay soil. But much of what I've observed applies to wide areas of North America. Carolina Wren? Native to Texas and most of the eastern United States. Virginia Creeper? Native to Texas and most of central and eastern US. The list goes on.
So read on, and you'll find here my experiences and observations.
